Abstract

AbstractIn this study, binary‐ and ternary‐layered double hydroxides (LDHs) loaded with titanium dioxide (TiO2‐ZnAl and TiO2‐ZnAlSn) were synthesized by a one‐step in situ coprecipitation method and then used as thermal and light stabilizers for polyvinyl chloride (PVC). TiO2‐ZnAlSn has a unique nanostructure, high thermal stability, and good ultraviolet (UV)‐shielding property. The Congo red test shows that the static thermal stability time of PVC/TiO2‐ZnAlSn composite is 370% higher than that of pure PVC. The thermogravimetric analysis and accelerated weathering test suggest that the incorporation of TiO2‐ZnAlSn into the PVC matrix improves the thermal stability and anti‐UV‐aging property of the resulting composite, which is probably related to the lower photoluminescence intensity and formation of more O2−. This study provides a simple method to prepare TiO2‐loaded ZnAlSn‐LDH as multifunctional nanofillers for PVC.
