Abstract

Hybrid antibiotics are not found in nature as such. It is synthesized by combining the two or more antibiotics. Hybrid antibiotics can act through different modes of action combined in a single molecule. Molecules linked to one another by ester, amide, covalently bonded or by carbon chain linker. The expected benefits include activity against drug-resistant bacteria, an increased spectrum of activity and reduced chances for generating bacterial resistance. The formation of hybrid antibiotics having a synergistic effect to reduce the problem of antibacterial resistance. The main aim is to develop the hybrid molecules to increases the potency or synergistic effect as compared to giving them alone.
