Synthesis and antimicrobial activity of novel benzo[4', 5']-imidazo[1',2':1,2]pyrrolo[3,4-b]isoxazolo[4,5-e]pyridines

Abstract

Synthesis of novel benzo [4',5'] imidazo [1',2':1,2] pyrrolo [3,4- b ] isoxazolo [4,5- e ] pyridines 8 has been achieved by reaction of 1-(prop-2-yn-1-yl)-1 H -benzo [ d ] imidazo-2-carbaldehydes 5 with 5-amino -3-methylisoxazole 6 in presence of InCl 3 in CH 3 CN media, followed by reaction of imine 7 with BF 3 .Et 2 O in DCE at 80°C. The newly synthesized title compounds 8 have been evaluated for their in vitro antimicrobial activity. Compounds 8 exhibit potent antimicrobial activity compared to that of standard drugs.
