Abstract

Three new lead(II) metal-organic coordination complexes constructed with tetracarboxyl tecton, namely, [Pb2(btec)] (1), [Pb3(µ4-O)(btec)(H2O)2]·H2O (2), and [Pb(btec)0.5(phen)] (3) (H4btec = 1,2,3,5-benzenetetracarboxylic acid, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline), have been prepared and characterized. A three-dimensional framework containing Pb(II) metal oxide sheet is being obtained in complex 1. Interestingly, a rather rare hexanuclear [Pb6(µ4-O2−)2]8+ octahedral core appeared in 2. The hexanuclear units are further connected by the btec4− ligands into a three-dimensional framework. When phen ligand was used as auxiliary coligand, a three-dimensional framework containing Pb2O2 dimer as building unit was observed in complex 3. Thermal stabilities and photoluminescent properties of complexes 1–3 have also been investigated.
