Abstract

Three new ternary nickel(II) coordination polymers, namely, {[Ni2(L)2(1,4-NDC)2(H2O)]·8.5H2O}n (1), {[Ni(L)(TBTA)(H2O)2]·H2O}n (2) [Ni(L)(OBA)(H2O)]n (3) (L = 1,4-bis(5,6-dimethylbenzimidazol-1-yl)-2-butylene; 1,4-H2NDC = 1,4-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid; H2TBTA = tetrabromoterephthalate; H2OBA = 4,4′-oxybis(benzoic acid)), were solvothermally synthesized and characterized. 1 exhibits an unusual 3D 3,6T13 framework. 2 and 3 both display the 2D sql networks. 1–3 have highly photocatalytic efficiency for the degradation of methylene blue by UV light irradiation. The photocatalytic mechanism was proposed, which was confirmed by trapping experiments in the presence of radical scavengers.
