Abstract

Two new cadmium(II) coordination polymers, [Cd(pzdc)(H 2O) 2] n ( 1) and [Cd(pzdc)(2,2′-bipy)] n · nH 2O ( 2) (H 2pzdc = pyrazine-2,3-dicarboxylic acid, 2,2′-bipy = 2,2′-bipyridine) have been prepared by assembly of Cd II with H 2pzdc ligand. Both the two complexes consist of two-dimensional architecture with a 4.8 2 topology. Intermolecular hydrogen-bond interactions lead complex 1 to a 3D supramolecular architecture, while complex 2 are extended into a 3D supramolecular network via the face-to-face π–π stacking interactions. Both of them show strong greenish-blue photoluminescence at room temperature.
