Abstract

Complexes M II( n-Me-PT) 2 [M  Zn, Pd, Ni and Cu; n = 3 or 4 for Zn, n = 3 for other metals; Me-HPT = methyl substituted 1-hydroxy-2(1H)-pyridinethione] were prepared and their magnetic properties, UV, IR and 1H NMR spectra were obtained. Also, the ESR spectrum of Cu II ( n-M-PT) 2 was investigated. The crystal structure of Zn(4-Me-PT) 2 was determined by X-ray diffraction, showing that the zinc atom lies in a nearly square planar coordination environment of two 4-Me-PT ligands in the trans configuration, in which disordered ethanol molecules are stacked in columns along a crystallographic three-fold axis.
