Abstract
Nucleophilic substitutions involving [Ru(η 2-bipy) 2{η 2-bipy–Cl 2}] 2+ (bipy=2,2′-bipyridine; bipy–Cl 2=4,4′-dichloro-2,2′-bipyridine) and OCH 3 − , SH −, and S(4-CH 3–C 6H 4) − were carried out, and the resulting disubstituted products were characterized analytically and spectroscopically. Moreover, [Ru(η 2-bipy) 2{η 2-bipy–Cl 2}] 2+2PF 6 − and [Ru(η 2-bipy) 2{η 2-bipy–(OCH 3) 2}] 2+2PF 6 − were structurally characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction.
