Syntheses and characterization of novel sterically demanding amido ligand derivatives and their alkali metal ion complexes, crystal structures of [SiH 2Mes 2], [NH(SiHMes 2) 2] and [Na{N(SiHMes 2) 2}(OEt 2)

Abstract

Three bulky silanes, [SiH 2Mes 2] ( 1), [SiHMeMes 2] ( 2), SiHMes 3 ( 3), two novel amines, [NH(SiHMes 2) 2] ( 4), NH 2(SiMeMes 2) ( 5), and three novel alkali metal ion complexes, [Na{N(SiHMes 2) 2}(OEt 2)] ( 6), Li{N(SiHMes 2) 2} ( 7), K{N(SiHMes 2) 2} ( 8), have been synthesized and characterized by multinuclear NMR and mass spectroscopy. The structures of compounds 1, 4 and 6 have been determined by X-ray crystallography. The spectroscopy and structural results are discussed.
