Abstract
Synovial chondromatosis of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is a rare, benign, monoarticular arthropathy characterized by formation of cartilaginous and osteocartilaginous nodules in the synovial membrane and joint space (loose bodies). Synovial chondromatosis commonly affects larger joints of the body, such as the knee, elbow, wrist, shoulder, and hip; involvement of the TMJ is rare. 1 Wise D.P. Ruskin J.D.
