Abstract

The Brazilian species of the Darwin wasp genus Brachycyrtus Kriechbaumer, 1880 (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae: Brachycyrtinae) are reviewed; a total of 12 species are recognized, of which two are described as new: Brachycyrtus amazonensis sp. n. and Brachycyrtus ocellicarinatus sp. n.. Furthermore, B. obelix Gauld & Ward, 2000 is registered for the first time in Brazil. Brachycyrtus convergens Cushman, 1936, B. cosmetus (Walkley, 1956), B. oculatus Cushman, 1936, B. pretiosus Cushman, 1936, B. veriatrix Gauld & Ward, 2000, B. walkleyae Gauld & Ward, 2000, and B. zani Gauld & Ward, 2000 have their distributional records expanded. Comparative diagnoses for Brazilian species, an illustrated identification key, and maps with geographical records for all species recorded in Brazil are presented.
