Synonymy of Odontacarus Ewing, 1929, and Acomatacarus Ewing, 1942, with Redescriptions of O. Dentatus (Ewing) and O. Australis (Ewing), Also Descriptions of Three New Species from Southern United States (Acarina: Trombiculidae)

Abstract

Examination of type specimens of the respective generotypes shows that Odontacarus ( = Acomatacarus ). Both the species placed by Ewing in Odontacarus are redescribed from their tvpes, and three new species are described, viz: O. cayolargoensis , of cotton rat, Sigmodon hispidus, Florida; O. morlani , off wood rat, Neotoma micropus, New Mexico; and O. shawi , off gecko, Coleonyx variegatus, southern California.
