Abstract
The ultra-weak chemiluminescence (CL) of Fenton system (Fe2+–H2O2) could be enhanced by phosphorus and chlorine co-doped carbon dots (PClCDs) or eosinY (EY), respectively. Surprisingly, the CL intensity of Fenton system was further improved in the co-presence of PClCDs and EY. The synergistic enhancing effect of PClCDs and EY on the CL emission of Fenton reaction provided a more strong and efficient CL system. It was found that methionine (Met) could effectively diminish the CL intensity of PClCDs-EY-Fenton system. Under the optimium conditions, a linear dynamic range of 0.1–10.0 μM Met concentrations was obtained, with limit of detection (LOD) and quantification (LOQ) of 0.03 μM and 0.1 μM, respectively. The practical application of the presented CL system was demonstrated for detection of Met in food additive and feed additive samples. The mechanism of CL emission was described.
