Abstract
In this study, the corrosion behaviors of Yb2Si2O7 ceramic exposed to CFAS melt at 1400 ℃ in a 50%H2O-50%O2 environment were investigated and the synergistic effects of water vapour on the thermal corrosion of CFAS melt on Yb2Si2O7 environmental barrier coating material were obtained. Water vapor not only promotes the penetration and corrosion of CFAS by formation of pores and short cracks derived from water vapour corrosion but also significantly changes the corrosion and crystallization reactions of CFAS and the structural evolution of Yb2Si2O7 ceramic, which may be more lethal for Yb2Si2O7 as an environmental barrier coating.
