Abstract

In Vitro Tumor Model In article number 2200141, Joaquim M. Oliveira and co-workers show the development of a silk hydrogel-based 3D in vitro breast cancer model. The model highlights the importance of matrix stiffness and breast cancer cells and fibroblasts interaction for tumor progression, which influence chemotherapeutic drug treatment response. The developed 3D breast cancer model will allow a deeper understanding of tumor-stroma interactions, leading to the possibility of patient-specific therapies in the future.
