Abstract

Three patients with plasma cell dyscrasia, polyneuropathy, organomegaly, endocrinopathy and skin changes are described. Over 150 cases of similar conditions are described in the literature. The present paper, however, reports the first instance of central nervous system involvement. One case had a direct invasion by plasma cells to the pituitary area, the other showed hyperviscosity and cerebral stroke. The authors also propose evidence that direct invasion of plasma cells to the pituitary gland may be associated with multiple systems involvement.
