Abstract

The Caplan's (or Caplan-Collinet) syndrome is a condition in which pneumoconiosis and rheumatoid arthritis are associated. This syndrome is rare and its pathogenesis is still not clear. We report the case of a patient with this syndrome and discuss the different hypotheses concerning its pathogenesis, notably the relationship between immunologic diseases and exposure to silica dust.
