Abstract

Synchrophasor measuring devices have been increasingly deployed in the modern electric power system, due to their high reporting rate and rich measurement types. Nowadays synchrophasor systems lack an efficient mechanism to efficiently manage the large volume synchrophasor data and the applications based upon it. This paper introduces the development of a synchrophasor big data management system, SynchroService, which provides critical capabilities including data collection, storage, retrieval, and analytics. In this paper, the developed system is deployed on a distribution-level synchrophasor system, FNET/GridEye, to evaluate its performance on field-collected synchrophasor data. The efficiency of the developed system is evaluated against the conventional state-of-the-art approach. Finally, some case applications are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the developed system.
