Abstract

A magnetically suspended rotor (MSR) system always suffers from the non-coincidence of the inertia axis and geometric axis, which results in synchronous vibration varied with the rotational speed. To effectively suppress the synchronous vibration torques for the MSR with significant gyroscopic effects, a consolidated vibration control and stability analysis method is proposed here. The MSR system with inherent gyroscopic effects belongs to a class of cross-coupled antisymmetric system. First, a class of cross-coupled antisymmetric system with synchronous vibration influence is modelled. Then, the principle and implementation of the proposed scheme used for synchronous vibration suppression are analysed in detail. Moreover, a stability analysis method for a class of cross-coupled antisymmetric system is developed, which is not limited to the specific MSR system with gyroscopic effects. Finally, the simulation and experiments are performed in the typical magnetically suspended flywheel to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed stability analysis method and the vibration suppression algorithm.
