Abstract

The colorless fluorane dye and iodonium salt system can undergo an electron transer to generate ring-opening color form with photolysis of iodonium salt to yield active radical species exposed to UV light. Such system not only is capable of initiating polymerization of vinyl monomers, but also can induce the color formation and approach high color density. Effects of different chain length and countenon for diaryliodonium salts on color formation were further studied. The colorant formed from fluorane and iodonium salt in photocrosslinking film possesses good thermal stability and durability to solvents.
