Abstract

Metal spinning is a plastic forming method for forming shapes with rotational symmetry. In former studies on asymmetric spinning, it was not possible to form shapes such as rectangular boxes. Thus, we have developed a synchronous multipass spinning method. In this method, the tool trajectory is calculated using the mandrel shape, the blank shape and the pass set. However, there is a problem that the pass set setting depends on the programmer's experience in this spinning process. Therefore, we have developed a calculation method for pass sets of multipass spinning and experimentally evaluated several pass sets used to form rectangular box shapes.
