Abstract

Radiotherapy and surgery either alone or in combination are the main modalities of treatment at present. In advanced T3 and T4 lesions survival after surgery or radiotherapy is not more than 20%. By synchronous chemotherapy and radiotherapy in the management of advanced malignancies of head and neck, it is hoped to improve the survival rate. Also surgery in head and neck region should be minimal so that normal physiological functions are maintained.
