Abstract

Scrum is a development methodology focused on small development teams. It can be scaled to large software development efforts using techniques such as the Scrum of Scrums. In modern systems one frequently has to release different front-ends for the same application across different platforms. Examples include Android, iOS and web clients. This paper reports on the analysis of a customization of Scrum for synchronized cross-platform releases. In particular, we report on (a) how the different Scrum modules were customized for synchronized development, (b) the results of a Scrum compliance assessment of the resultant customized development process, (c) how measures were applied across teams, and (d) the core challenges which put synchronized releases at risk.
