Abstract

This paper describes the effects which depth of rotor bars in self-starting permanent magnet synchronous motor has on starting and steady-state performance characteristics. In particular, the maximum load inertia versus depth of rotor bars when the motor synchronizes becomes clear by using the time-stepped finite element technique.
