Abstract

Summary form only given. Passively mode-locked fiber lasers typically have broader spectra than actively mode-locked ones. However, they are much harder to synchronize with external laser sources. For example, for WDM network applications both, synchronization and a broad spectrum are needed. The all-optical solution presented here is the injection locking (IL) of a potential WDM source to an external laser source. The experimental setup consists of a passively mode-locked fiber laser used as a seed laser. The timing jitter between seed pulse and IL-additive pulse mode locked (APM) laser pulse was determined using the cross correlation method.
