Abstract

Dissociative and psychotic symptoms are frequently attributed to schizophrenia. However, a growing literature suggests the prevalence of these symptoms in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Indeed, psychotic symptoms could be a dissociative manifestation caused directly by the trauma. The objective of this presentation is to present some of the characteristics of dissociation and hallucinations in the context of PTSD. A clinical vignette, although not pathognomonic, will illustrate how PTSD symptomatology can be intertwined with psychotic symptoms.
