Abstract

An International Symposium on the Planning of Water Resources will be held December 4–8 , 1972, at the Seeretaria de Recursos Hidraulicos, Mexico City. The symposium is endorsed by the Ministry of Water Resources of the government of Mexico and the International Association of Hydrological Sciences.The topics of the symposium will include: present techniques used in the planning of water resources; data compilation systems and current methodologies of data analysis; methods of integrating and coordinating water resources plans with other national programs; an analysis of results contained in the planning of water resources, based on the experience of the participating countries; ecological interrelationships of water resources development and planning criteria to avert undesirable effects; uses of secondary water and augmentation through transfer, desalting, climate modification, and so forth; and formation of a world technical organization designed to encourage international collaboration through an interchange of information and experiences in water resources planning.
