Abstract

In this article I comment on the four articles in the Symposium. All four identify an important research agenda and make a compelling case for the need to understand the role of business in conflict prevention. My comments come from the perspective of a political scientist specializing in international relations who has been following the intellectual and real-world developments in this area from the beginning. I discuss some of the differences between international relations and international business scholarship in the study of conflict, management, and peace. I also point out some areas of current international relations research that may be of interest to international business studies scholars, and that have the potential to be a focus for greater interdisciplinary collaboration and integration.
