Abstract

There had been several published case reports finding that treatment with dextroamphetamine sulfate (DS) resulted in considerable improvement of various types of pelvic pain from endometriosis or adenomyosis including dysmenorrhea, dyspareunia, mittelschmerz, vulvodynia, vulvovaginitis, chronic pelvic pain, backaches, and chronic pelvic pain of bladder origin. These reports all seem to come from one treatment center. A search of the literature did not find any published series. The purpose of this study was to corroborate or refute claims that DS can effectively relieve pelvic pain even when conventional medical and/or surgical therapy was not effective.
