Abstract

In this issue of Neuron, Zheng etal. (2021) report synchronized cluster firing of dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons that correlates with spontaneous pain in the setting of nerve injury. The authors' findings further suggest that sympathetic sprouting in the DRG plays a key role in this phenomenon.
