Abstract

AbstractA symmetrical coplanar waveguide with finite ground plane (SCPW) has been analyzed. The symmetrical configuration is obtained by simply placing a dielectric substrate above a conventional finite ground plane coplanar waveguide (FCPW). The conformal mapping method is used to calculate the quasistatic effective permittivity ϵeff and characteristic impedance Z0. The SCPW has a larger ϵeff and a smaller Z0, compared with the conventional FCPW. This configuration should be useful for the design of balanced mixer circuits and for applications to the design of balanced feed lines in printed antennas. © 1993 John Wiley & sons, Inc.
