Abstract

Without involving bounce events, a Poincaré sectionassociated with the axes is found to give a map on the annulus for thediamagnetic Kepler problem. Symbolic dynamics is then establishedbased on the lift of the annulus map. The correspondence between thecoding derived from this axis Poincaré section is compared withthe coding based on bounces. Symmetry is used to reduce the symbolicdynamics. By means of symbolic dynamics the admissibility of periodicorbits is analyzed, and the symmetry of orbitsdiscussed.
