Abstract

For decode-and-forward (DF) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) relay communication systems, we present a scheme for joint symbol and channel estimation. In this scheme, symbols at source and relay are coded by Khatri-Rao Space-Time codes and then received signals are formulated as two parallel factor (PARAFAC) models in relay and destination respectively. We also analyze the uniqueness of decomposition for the constructed PARAFAC model. On the assumption that channel state information (CSI) is unknown at source, relay and destination, all signal matrices and CSI can be jointly estimated by designing relevant algorithm to fit the parallel factor (PARAFAC) model. Simulation results indicate that proposed scheme has higher accuracy in channel estimation and better performance in signal detection.
