Abstract

Anophthalmia leads to both physical and social disability which affects the quality and day-to-day functioning of an individual. This article tends to describe the rehabilitation of unilateral anophthalmia by a custom-made eye prosthesis. Stock-made eye prosthesis once served as a boon to prosthodontists, but with the recent advances in the field of technology, custom-made eye prosthesis is preferred more as they cater the demand of the patient in a more socially acceptable manner. Iris positioning has been a major challenge to the prosthodontists since beginning, but with the advent of modern-day technology, things have been made easier and repeatable with commendable accuracy. This article describes a symbiosis of both conventional and digital imaging modality in rehabilitating the left ocular area just by superimposition and comparison of soft- and hard-tissue landmarks manually and digitally.
