Abstract

The role of clinical trials in the development of cancer treatments has increased over time. For decades, pharmaceutical companies, mainly from Western countries, drove clinical trials for new drugs developed for the treatment of cancer types that are predominant in Western countries. However, differences in the distribution of cancer types, patient backgrounds, and treatment procedures exist between Western and Eastern countries. To overcome these issues, clinical trial groups in Asian countries have also been established since the 20th century.
