Abstract
Communication is an essential aspect of care for patients with progressive serious illnesses and learnable for both patients and medical staffs. We have shown that a communication skills training (CST) for oncologists improves their patient-centered communication behaviors and reduces patients psychological distress (Fujimori et al., 2014), and a question prompt list (QPL) leads to patient reported usefulness (Shirai et al., 2012). CST is recommended in American Society of Clinical Oncology Consensus Guideline (Gilligan et al., 2017).
