Abstract
Chimney-like Directory Agent Service Location Protocol and mesh-connection Directory Agent mesh Service Location Protocol are the two main hybrid Service Discovery Mechanisms. However, it is reasonable to improve performance by optimizing local unit size from the opinion of both sociology and optimization. Based on the theory of small-world network of Watts and Strogatz, this paper presents a Small World Service Location Protocol model to improve the dependability of Service Discovery Mechanism. This method effectively improve the system reliability of Service Discovery Mechanism when facing to the failure of local Directory Agent scope by virtue of the reasonable collaboration a few long connections and a great deal short connections. The simulation study shows that Small World Service Location Protocol provides good service discoverability as compared to Service Location Protocol and mesh Service Location Protocol. At the same time, it offers less first respond time after DA scope failure under the failure of local Directory Agent scope with less bandwidth.
