Abstract

Injection of pluripotent human embryonic stem cells derived from an established in vitro cell line into the brain of mouse embryos, for studying the development of functional human embryonic stem cell-derived neurons in an animal model. Experiments with human embryonic stem cells are subject to authorisation by the Federal Health Authority; for this purpose compare the regulation in the “Swiss Federal Act on Research involving Embryonic Stem Cells of 19 December 2003 (Art. 1, 11 - 16). As laid down in article 11, this kind of research needs a review by a Medical Ethic Committee for clinical research.
