We report the acousto-optic induced multiband reflection insinc-sampled fiber gratings, in which the induced-wavelength-channelsat both sides of each existing channel can be switched by applying anacoustic wave propagating along the fiber. This novel comb filter canredirect a large number of wavelength channels at the same time in awavelength division multiplexing (WDM) system and will offer a newfunctionality in the evolution of the current WDM network toward a morecomplex future system with automated routing functions.
