Abstract

In this study, we present a flexible and switchable asymmetric transmission structure comprising two knob-controlled metasurfaces. Abnormal refraction and asymmetric transmission of flexural waves can be achieved by rotating a single knob. Abnormal refractions occur when a flexural wave is incident on one end of the structure, whereas total reflection occurs when it is incident on the other end. Using a knob for adjustment affords two benefits: easy tuning of the asymmetric transmission structure over a wide frequency range, and simple altering of the metasurfaces to achieve bidirectional asymmetric transmission.
