Abstract

In this paper we model swarm dynamics by a nonautonomous linear system with row-stochastic matrices. It is shown that all birds approach the same velocity if their local interaction has the property that its intensity decays not too fast and its structure becomes not too loose. This mirrors in particular specific flight regimes. The results obtained employ tools from positive discrete dynamical systems.
