Abstract

In this paper, we study the effects of inhomogeneous magnetic field on the swap operation, which is a fundamental component to construct universal quantum circuits. The lower bound of the operation fidelity is given. The scheme to perform the ideal swap operation and its square root is investigated. It is shown that the strength of the exchange coupling should satisfy some discrete values.
