Abstract

Health visitors have always been involved in providing early intervention and support for families, and are recognised for their contribution to improving community health and wellbeing. The programme aims to make a decisive difference to the life chances of children aged under 4 years, with key aims around reducing the effect of health inequality so that future outcomes for children can improve. In an attempt to achieve this, the local programme in Swansea has a strong commitment to integrated working. This article focuses on the benefits to clients of health visitors working in partnership with midwives to improve outcomes in both the antenatal and postnatal period.
