Abstract
Abstract A number of 19th century authors, writing on graptolites, referred to a forthcoming or, as was assumed, existing monograph of graptolites by the Swedish scientist Sven Nilsson. Such a work was never published, nor is there a manuscript on this subject in the Nilsson file in the Manuscript Department of the University Library of Lund. The occurrence of graptolites in the Lower Palaeozoic sequence of Skåne (Scania) is mentioned occasionally in Nilsson's journals. These also include the earliest existing, in some measure informative report on the famous locality for Ordovician graptolite shales at Fågelsång, near Lund.
