Abstract

Polymer-supported phosphine-palladium complex 1 was found to promote the Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction in water under microwave irradiation conditions. Thus, the polymer-supported catalyst 1 was prepared according to the reported procedures (L. Bai, Y. M. Zhang, J.-X. Wang QSAR Comb. Sci. 2004, 23, 857). The cross-coupling of 2-bromonaphthalene with sodium tetraphenylborate was carried out in the presence of the polymeric catalyst 1, K2CO3, and tetrabutylammonium bromide in water to give 2-phenylnaphthalene in 93% yield. The catalyst 1 was recovered and reused 10 times without any loss of activity (average 92% yields for 10 times).
