Abstract

memory. However a combination of 5HT 6 antagonist SB399885with a quetiapine and MDL100907 was found to have no effect on memory. Estimation of brain neurotransmitters showed that there was an imbalance between the cholinergic, dopaminergic and glutamate level at the previously observed active dose. Conclusions:A non-selective 5HT 2a antagonist quetiapine, MDL-100907 a selective 5HT 2a antagonist and SB399885 a selective 5HT 6 antagonist modulated the glutamatergic dysfunction and restored episodic memory. However addition of 5HT 6 antagonist SB399885 with quetiapine or MDL-100907 was found to have no effect on memory. One of the reasons could be due to neurotransmitter imbalance. Hence a dose titration would be required if 5HT 2a antagonist is administered with a selective 5HT 6 antagonist.
