Abstract

Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy of sutureless intrascleral fixation with folded intraocular lens(IOL) guided with 29-gauge needles for aphakic eyes after vitrectomy. Methods Ten eyes without posterior capsule induced by trauma or IOL luxation after vitrectomy, were treated with sutureless intrascleral fixation with folded three-pieces IOL guided with 29-gauge needles. Some cases received combined surgeries according to the different cases. The visual acuity, intraocular pressure, IOL position and complications after surgery were observed and estimated. Results The visual acuity after surgery were improved in different degree. Nine cases had normal intraocular pressure except 1 eye with low intraocular pressure in the early postoperative. The position of IOL was in the middle in 8 eyes after surgery. The IOL decentration and tilt occurred in 2 eyes. No severe complication occurred during the follow-up. Conclusion Sutureless intrascleral fixation with IOL guided with 29-gauge needles for aphakic eyes is a new method, which is safe, effective, more minimally invasive and less complications. Key words: Intrascleral fixation, folded intraocular lens, sutrueless; Aphkic, eyes; After vitrictomy
