Abstract

We present a case report of a 52-year-old female who developed secondary glaucoma in aphakia following lens removal for traumatic cataract. A combined suture gonioscopy-assisted transluminal trabeculotomy with scleral fixated intraocular lens implantation using the extraocular needle-guided haptic insertion technique was performed. At 28 months postoperatively, her best corrected visual acuity was 6/9 with an intraocular pressure of 14 mmHg without antiglaucoma medications (AGM). We report the success of this combined procedure in a developing country like India where cost, compliance to AGM, and burden of vision impairment due to aphakia can be dealt with by this effective low-cost procedure.
