Abstract

Knitting, dyeing and finishing are the main steps in knit fabric processing. In finishing, Stenter machine is used to dry and heat-setting of fabrics. Generally one step heating process is running in most of the knit industries where knit fabrics in wet condition pass through very hot chambers (80–200 °C) in stenter which needs to slow the machine speed to evaporate water completely and deliver low production ultimately. Instead of one step heating, in this research two steps drying process like simple steam heated roller drying before chambers at low temperature (50–80 °C) and then drying, heat setting at higher temperature (80–200 °C) in chambers successfully increase the speed of stenter as well as production. Fabrics characterization shows that the properties of predried fabrics remain unchanged.
