Abstract
This article focuses on the conditions and prospects for achieving a sustainable system of food production in the USA and the developing countries of Asia, Africa and Latin America. This is particularly important in the USA because of the dominant position of the USA in world food trade. Developing countries need attention because they hold most of the world's poor and a sustainable system of food production is essential to improve their lot.
